Tim Tebow’s attorneys have sent a stop and desist letter to the people at Cubby Tees who are building T-shirts implying Jesus endorses the Jets.
Or something. His attorneys place it this way: “The Merchandise makes it appear as if Mr. Tebow really endorses Cubby Tees and its products.”
Where that really happens is unclear, but here’s the shirt:

The shirt, as you can see, doctors the Jets logo to a Jesus-friendly theme. The “NY” is replaced with “MY” and the “JETS” is replaced with “JESUS.” Clever.
In addition, what’s normally a football at the bottom of the NYJ logo is the “Ichthys,” or “sign of the fish,” often used to express faith. Even more clever.
If you played a word association game, Jesus and the Jets would likely make you reckon of Tebow, though the shirt itself contains no reference to him.
What if it has nothing to do with the newly-bought star quarterback and the folks at Cubby Tees are just really enthusiastic about football and faith?
Reckon about it.

Guinness spokesperson clarifies why they refused to recognize a White Stripes show as ‘the undeviating concert of all time.’
By James Montgomery
Over the years, Jack White has taken umbrage with overzealous radio programmers, the Internet and, uh, Jason Stollsteimer (to name just a few) but in the new come forth of Interview magazine, he lashes out at a new foe: The folks at Guinness Planet Records.
Yes, in what could only be described as the latest step in his ongoing transformation into the music planet’s foremost eccentric — sorry, Kanye — White has lashed out at the venerable record-keeping institution, calling them “a very elitist organization” after they refused to acknowledge the White Stripes’ one-note routine in Newfoundland (seen in their 2010 doc “Under Fantastic White Northern Lights”) as “the undeviating music concert ever.”
“I was thinking that afterwards we could contact the Guinness Planet Records people and see if we could get the record for the undeviating concert of all time. So we did it, but ultimately, they turned us down,” White tells astronaut Buzz Aldrin (for real) in the Interview piece. “[They're] a very elitist organization. Here’s nothing scientific about what they do. They just have an office full of people who choose what is a record and what isn’t … so something like the undeviating concert of all time, they didn’t reckon [it] was fascinating enough to make it a record. I don’t know why they get to choose that, but, you know, they own the book.”
Well, yes, they do own the book … and, as it turns out, the Stripes’ Newfoundland concert was featured in the 2009 edition of it, as a spokesperson for Guinness Planet Records pointed out to MTV News on Thursday (May 17). Of course, they’d subsequently remove the notation in later editions, though it had small to do with elitism and more to do with the simple fact that Guinness had no way of qualifying what really counted as a routine.
“We received a large volume of applications from bands and performers seeking to beat this record. We got an influx of individuals claiming that simply appearing on stage was enough to qualify them for this record,” the spokesperson wrote in an email to MTV News. “It became increasingly hard for us to measure this objectively (for example, how many members of the crowd need to be able to see the performer before they disappear off stage?)
“The nature of competing to make something the ‘undeviating’ by its very nature trivializes the endeavor being carried out, and Guinness Planet Records has been forced to reject many claims of this kind,” the spokesperson continued. “As such, we have closed record categories for akin designations such as the undeviating song, undeviating poem, and also the record of undeviating concert now in question.”
Of course, the spokesperson was quick to add that Guinness Planet Records “admires the band and we encourage them to have a crack any of the 40,000 active records now housed in our database.” And knowing White, we’re pretty sure he’ll take them up on that offer. Soon.

Heather Morris and Britney Spears on the set of “Glee”
Photo: Facebook
After drawing record ratings the first time nearly, “Glee” has announced plans to pay homage to Britney Spears … one more time. The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Spears will join the “X Thing” as judge, when the competition show returns to Fox this fall on Thursday nights. (Glee also moves to Thursdays for season four.)
While Brit appeared in the September 2010 toll episode, which used her impressive pool of hits, the 2012 toll episode will instead focus on her “Glee” namesake, Brittany S. Pierce (played by Heather Morris), without any appearances from Spears. EW.com reports that the new episode will be the second in the show’s fourth season, returning in the fall.
The Spears-centric episode will feature eight of her songs, and a source revealed that Fox is excited to have Spears joining the network on “X Thing” and that the “Glee” ep is partly a reflection of that.
Spears was on hand Monday at the Fox Upfront presentation in New York City, where she appeared alongside fellow “X Thing” newbie Demi Lovato, as well as returning judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell. At the event, the judges and host of “So You Reckon You Can Dance” weighed in on the ladies joining the show.
“I don’t have any advice for those ladies,” “SYTYCD” host Cat Deeley told MTV News. “What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I like the thought that they’ve been in the business for so long and since being kids, and so quite often they’ve had successes and they’ve had failures on things.
“And I reckon the most valuable thing is the mistakes we make,” she added. “You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I reckon they’ll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I reckon it’s a fantastic booking.”

With Simon Cowell rumored to be courting a raft of pop princesses for season two, we grade the judges-to-be.
By James Montgomery
By now, we’re all aware that Simon Cowell is reloading. After largely firing blanks on the first season of “The X Thing,” he cleared the chamber — casting off judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger (not to mention host Steve Jones) — and is now in the process of lining up a pool of high-profile, hollow-point replacements with which to take down the competition.
Of course, just who Cowell ends up nabbing seems to be a matter of some speculation: His $15 million deal with Britney Spears appeared to be a near certainty, but in the weeks since it was first reported, here’s been no movement. And now come rumors that he’s courting the likes of Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne to join the “X Thing” team. Are those names just part of a shrewd ploy from Cowell to get Spears to relent on her reported contract demands and insistences on “various perks”? Or is he truly determined to assemble an all-star lineup for the “Thing”? Really, your guess is as exceptional as ours.
Needless to say, we’re not sure who will be joining the “X Thing” panel when the show returns later this year (though we suspect Fox may shed some light on the matter at an upfront event for ad buyers on May 14). So, in the meantime, we’re just going to take a look at all of the potential judges, comparing their strengths and weaknesses in an have a crack to help Cowell place together a potential Murderer’s Row. Because we want the “X Thing” to succeed … lord knows we don’t have enough singing competitions on TV at the moment.
Here’s our no-holds-barred scouting report for each of the “X Thing” hopefuls:
Strengths: Spears would instantly become the most well-known judge on any U.S. singing competition (sorry Xtina!), therefore automatically raising the profile of a show in desperate need of a exceptional boost. It’s the rare combination of both a “career” and a “contemporary” artist, giving the show an answer to “Idol” ‘s Steven Tyler/ J. Lo combination and the four-headed monster of Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo and Blake Shelton on “The Voice.” As a bonus, she would also fill the “rambling” slot vacated by Abdul, not to mention the “thousand-mile stare” void left when Scherzinger got the boot.
Weaknesses: It’s Britney: Live TV may not exactly suit her.
Strengths: At just 19 years ancient, Lovato would give Cowell an in-road to the younger, Disney-fied demographic he so desperately craves. Can certainly sing (check her terrific tear-jerker
“Skyscraper” for proof), which automatically puts her ahead of something like 90 percent of her singing-competition contemporaries. Has the kind of harrowing backstory that would automatically shut down any hard-luck contestants looking for a few pity points.
Weaknesses: Older viewers might confuse her with Selena Gomez. Could also not dredge up where she is, accidentally reenact that one episode of “Sonny with a Chance” when she’s framed for stealing a necklace and subsequently fires a cheese cannon.
Strengths: An established star (with a slightly checkered past), which would give “X Thing” the kind of constant tabloid attention it failed to generate in season one. Has proven on songs like “The Climb” and her contemporary cover of Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” that she’s really got a fantastic voice, which, like Lovato, puts her in rarefied air. Could also use the show as a way of launching the next phase of her career, which would be mutually beneficial and might just spawn something like the certified “Voice” smash “Moves Like Jagger.”
Weaknesses: May now be better known for her paparazzi coverage than her real music. Might take another hit of salvia and confuse every male contestant with Liam.
Strengths: Has been at it for a while now, has more real hits than anyone except Spears. She’s also got previous judging encounter and seems to be genuinely concerned with her artistic integrity. And although her Goodbye Lullaby album didn’t match the commercial heights of her previous efforts, you can’t fault her for aiming high.
Weaknesses: Preternaturally appears to be 14 years ancient. May everlastingly wear a hoodie during shows. Is constantly building the “sucking a lemon” face. Doesn’t exactly strike us as a people person.
Sound off with your picks for “X Thing” judges in the comments below!

‘Ricky Rozay came through and place that thing down,’ he tells MTV News of his sensual collabo with Ross.

On his latest single, “Lemme See,” Usher is doing what he does best: imagining all the ways he wants to get it on with his lady.
Usher’s bravado is out in full with him singing, “She says she wanna take her skirt off/Be my guest/I chose to take my shirt off/And show my chest/And we been sipping on that merlot/So you know what’s next.” And, as if we didn’t know what was next, he adds, “Working intermissions, switching positions/We so pricey, oh.”
If fans reckon it couldn’t get any hotter on the Jim Jonsin and Mr. Morris-produced track, Usher invited his pal and Hottest MC Rick Ross to heat things up even more.
“Well, me and Rick Ross had been talking about working together solo,” he told MTV News about the song. “We had really done something before with ‘So Sick and Tired’ with DJ Khaled, but this was one of those ones it needed a boss on it.”
From here, Ursher hit the studio with the MC and came up with a sensual track about the art of seducing. He added, “Ricky Rozay came through and place that thing down. It was exceptional.”
Usher previewed Looking For Myself, which drops June 12, during a one-night routine as the lead in the off-Broadway show “Fuerza Bruta.” The album’s second single, “Scream,” dropped last week.
“This album has many different views and many different perspectives,” Usher said of how the songs he’s unhindered so far reflect the album. “Whereas the first song was a small bit more artistic and a small bit more soulful, and it has done everything, it probably exceeded my expectations, I mean, from the moment I was able to give it away. I was able to kind of be reintroduced in a way musically, and thank you to [producer] Diplo, but ‘Scream’ is really like the next step. It’s just in time for summer and the type of encounter that I want people to get out of the album.”

Kristen Stewart, Lily Collins and Alexis Bledel are fan favorites to play the lead in the huge-screen adaptation of E L James’ novel.

As the debate rages on between fans over who will play Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaption of E L James’ best-selling erotic novel, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” many are also contemplating who should take on the role of the female lead, Anastasia Steele.
The book, which started as “Sundown” fan fiction, describes Ana as “a pale, brown haired girl with blue eyes too huge for her face.” Fans are looking for someone that not only represents her physically, but can also balance her purity with her newfound sensual side.
“The trickiest part of all may be staying right to the book and finding an actress who can convey youth and innocence, as well as the depth of encounter necessary to grow with the character,” Lisa Parker from Fiftyshadesfilm.com told MTV News. “We’re looking forward to someone submitting (pun intended) their name for consideration of the pivotal role of Ana. Maybe an ‘it’ girl like Jennifer Lawrence; a probable next ‘it’ girl like Allison Williams; or someone wanting to take a career leap like Felicity Jones, Emilia Clarke or Katie Cassidy.”
Another fan pet seems to be “Mirror Mirror” star Lily Collins who, at 23, would be the right age to play the part.
“Lily Collins is one who I don’t reckon has been mentioned too much” Mags Vazquez from Latersbaby.net said. “I look at the innocent part, she can probably pull that off really well, and she has the features that would go well.”
With the novel’s connection to the “Sundown” trilogy and with Robert Pattinson being rumored for the role as Christian, it is only natural that Kristen Stewart’s name comes to mind.
“Kristen would be fantastic,” Alison Genet of Twifans.com said. “After all, it was written with her in mind. Isn’t the instigator everlastingly right? I reckon it’s also time for her to another edgy flick.”
Yet, others feel until the role of Christian is filled, it may be hard to picture who would be able to take on Anastasia.
“The debate over who will play Christian is certainly a heated one,” Parker said. “It just may be that it’s too hard to reckon about casting Ana until she has her Fifty. We conducted a quick Twitter poll for this condition, and their top three choices were Emmy Rossum, Alexis Bledel and going with an nameless.”
But in the end, it will have to be up to the studio and James to cast the role of Anastasia, but according to fans, they entrust that they will ultimately make the right choice.
“Instigator E L James gave Ana her voice in the trilogy,” Parker said. “No one understands her better than she does, which is why we know she will make sure an actress with the right combination of ‘inner goddess’ and ‘subconscious’ is cast.”

Sendak, best known for ‘Wild Things’ and ‘In the Night Kitchen,’ was known for his dark-edged humor and unconventional approach.
By Gil Kaufman
Maurice Sendak
Photo: David Corio/Getty Images
Beloved children’s instigator and illustrator Maurice Sendak, instigator of the classic boyhood adventure tale “Where the Wild Things Are,” died on Tuesday (May
at the age of 83.
The New York Times reported that Sendak’s death was a result of complication from a contemporary stroke.
Controversial, small-tempered and not entirely convinced that he was a children’s instigator, Sendak wrote literate, dark and morose picture books that explored the anxieties and fears of children, and their parents.
Best known for 1963′s “Wild Things,” Sendak also wrote and illustrated the equally groundbreaking “In the Night Kitchen” (1970) and 1981′s “Outside Over Here,” which completed a trilogy started with “Wild Things.”
The self-taught instigator couldn’t be bothered with the traditions of children’s books, in which the Times noted, “young heroes and heroines were typically well scrubbed and even better behaved; nothing really terrible ever happened for very long; and everything was tied up at the end in a clean, moralistic bow.”
Instead, his subjects were often rude, selfish, obstinate and occasionally annoying and sometimes they ran away from home, or were kidnapped or, worst of all, their parents disappeared. Sendak’s illustrations looked like sepia-toned pages from a a 19th-century etching, sprinkled with sly wordplay and references that his youngest readers were dodgy to know.
Though not prolific, Sendak’s work was highly influential. In addition to the abovementioned books, he also made 1960′s “The Sign on Rosie’s Door,” the 1962 boxed set pool of four tiny booklets called “The Nutshell Library” and 1967′s “Higglety Pigglety Pop!” His first writing and illustration effort in 30 years, 2011′s “Bumble-Ardy,” told the tale of an orphaned pig who throws a wild birthday have fun for himself.
In addition to his writing, Sendak also designed theater sets and illustrated dozens of other works, including ones by such legendary authors as Hans Christian Andersen and Herman Melville to William Blake and Leo Tolstoy.
But amid all the accolades for his work, it was the tale of “Wild Things” hero Max that captured the hearts and minds of generations of readers. The irritable boy who likes to wear a wolf costume and sets sail for unforeseen adventures after being sent to his room without dinner was adapted by director Spike Jonze into a morose feature film in 2009. He was also the subject of a documentary, “Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak,” by Lance Bangs, which was unhindered by late Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch’s Oscilloscope Laboratories.
His books were not everlastingly a hit with some critics, who complained about the horrifying monsters in “Wild Things” and the nudity of the young hero of “Night Kitchen,” which subjected the book to censorship. But Sendak was undeterred, arguing that life is full of horrors and that children are not immune to the actuality of death, loneliness and confusion.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 10, 1928, Maurice Bernard Sendak was the son of Polish Jewish immigrant parents. The deaths of much of his extended family in the Holocaust imbued him with a sense of mortality early in life, which could clarify the often bleak, danger-filled nature of many of his books and the peril of the children he wrote about. He was also a wan outcome, which resulted in many days and weeks in bed that allowed his fertile imagination to bloom.
He started his qualified career as an illustrator working on window displays for F.A.O. Schwarz and segued into illustrating other instigator’s children’s books in the 1950s before venturing off to write his own books. A solitary man by nature, Sendak lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut with his companion of 50 years, psychiatrist Eugene Glynn, who died in 2007, as well as his dogs and his beloved Mozart records.
Sendak appeared on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” earlier this year and shared his wit and wisdom about children’s books with the host.
“Here is something in this people that is so different to understanding the complexity of children,” he said of the controversy kicked up by some of works. “I don’t write for children. I write … and somebody says, ‘That’s for children.’ I didn’t set out to make children pleased or make life better for them or simpler for them.”

Director calls first film ‘an extraordinary encounter’ — but he also tells MTV News he needs to rest for ’17 years in a cave.’

Now that “Marvel’s The Avengers” has taken in oodles and oodles of cash during its opening weekend here in the U.S., it’s time to talk about the sequel, of course!
Here will likely need to be some serious plotting about scheduling, but given the fact that Marvel already has plans for a slew of other superhero-related sequels like “Iron Man 3″, “Control America 2″ and “Thor 2,” another “Avengers” can’t be too far away, can it?
MTV News place the question to the first film’s mastermind, Joss Whedon, by asking for his thoughts on returning to helm a second chapter of the film. Whedon provided some insightful commentary about his encounter, along with some artful dodgery.
“You know, it was an extraordinary encounter,” Whedon said. “The actors gave me so much, Marvel gave me so much entrust. And [when] I said, ‘Well, if I was going to do this [movie], I’d like to do this,’ that’s the movie I made,” he clarified of his satisfaction with the creative freedom he was afforded with the film. “And they only ever went it forward and collaborated and supported me. And I gotta tell you, that’s unusual from a studio.”
So we’ll take that positive and diplomatic response as “I will have to reckon about it”? Similarly, when we ran into Whedon at the film’s planet premiere in Los Angeles, we tried to get more specific and questioned him how many days of vacation he’d need before he’d be able to reckon about a sequel.
“Seventeen years in a tiny cave,” Whedon said with a smile. “In Tibet.”

Siva Kaneswaran says the band was not allowed to look at Britney Spears backstage at a Manchester show.
By Gil Kaufman
If you’re having distress keeping the latest wave of British boy bands straight, just dredge up this one simple trick: The Wanted are the ones who talk tons of smack.
After tearing into “The Voice” coach Christina Aguilera by calling her a “total bitch” last week, and then kind of apologizing , the boys turned their verbal cannons on another ex-Mouseketeer.
Sitting down for another radio interview in New York on Monday (their people should really consider keeping the boys off N.Y. radio, just sayin’), the lads opened up about a rather unpleasant interaction with Britney Spears’ security team in November.
They said they were personally invited to open Brit’s show in Manchester and by all accounts the hook-up went swimmingly, with a cute photo op and a follow-up tweet from Spears in which she wrote, “So the boys from @thewantedmusic came to my Wembley show & we hung out backstage! Like them!”
But member Tom Parker revealed that, “We signed a confidentiality thing that we should never say anything about what happened, but let’s tell it anyway.” That prompted Siva Kaneswaran to open up the legal Pandora’s box and spill, “I was in the hallway with my tour manager. Basically we were looking with a laptop, tiresome to get WiFi … facing the middle of the hallway. [Britney's] bouncers came down with her and told us to face the wall.”
“As Miss Spears is on foot through,” added Parker. “We’re like come on!” But, since they are nice boys, Kaneswaran said, “We turned nearly and I faced a wall for about 10 seconds until she got really far away.”
They didn’t wait long to walk this one back a bit, though. Jay McGuiness quickly followed-up with another patented Wanted semi-apology, explaining, “But honestly when we really met her person to person, she was so down to earth. You can tell she’s a total Southern girl and Nathan [Sykes], when he was a kid, won a singing competition. She was one of the judges or something. And she gave him a kiss, it was one of his first kisses as a kid. So he got to meet her again and support her.”
